South Bay Japanese American Citizens League Scholarships
The 2012 scholarship applications are now available! Scholarships are open to students of Japanese American ancestry residing in the South Bay JACL chapter area and a member of the JACL. Scholarship applicants must be plnanning to attend or currently attending a college or univeristy AND have attended one of the following high schools:
- Bishop Montgomery High School
- California Academy of Math and Science
- Mira Costa High School
- Narbonne High School
- North Torrance High School
- Palos Verdes High School
- Palos Verdes Peninsula High School
- Redondo Union High School
- San Pedro High School
- South Torrance High School
- Torrance High School
- West Torrance High School

Egashira Memorial Scholarship
The South Bay JACL Kiichi Egashira Memorial Scholarships are open to
students planning to attend or attending a college or university pursuing a bachelors or graduate degree in Physical and Biological Sciences,
Engineering and/or Mathematics. Students must be a member of the South
Bay JACL and attend
In previous years, $500 to
$2,000
scholarships were awarded to qualified applicants. Students are

Janice Kobata
Zoeger Memorial Scholarship
The Janice Kobata Zoeger Memorial Scholarship is open to students planning to attend a college or
university in pursuit of a bachelor's degree or a graduate degree in
any field of study relating to biological sciences, foreign and/or
ancient language or business. Applicants must be a member of the South
Bay JACL (membership
application).

National
JACL Scholarship
The JACL began its National Scholarship and Awards Program in 1946. The program currently offers over 30 awards, with an annual total of over $60,000 in scholarships to qualified student nationwide. The National Scholarship and Awards Program offer scholarships to students at the entering freshman, undergraduate, graduate, law, financial need and creative & performing arts. All scholarships are one-time awards.
Every applicant must be an active National JACL member at either an Individual or Student/Youth Level. Couple/Family membership by a parent will not meet this requirement. Applications are available at the National JACL website site. Entering Freshman
applications must be postmarked and mailed to the Scholarship Chairperson of the
local JACL Chapter of which you are a member by March 1, 2012. All other college student
applicants (excluding entering freshmen) must be postmarked and mailed
to the JACL National Scholarship Committee by April 1, 2011. If you
